Ogun CP promises peace in ember months, parades 14 criminals

The Ogun state commissioner for Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has promised that residents of the state would henceforth sleep with two eyes closed as the state command is on a clampdown on criminals as the yuletide season is fast approaching.

The commissioner disclosed this in a press conference at the state police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta on Monday November 13.

The commissioner thereafter paraded no fewer than 14 suspected criminals, including three ritualists, two kidnappers, four fake soldiers, among others.

The three suspected ritualists were said to have butchered a 17-year-old girl hawker and removed vital organs of her body.

The state command also recovered ammunitions such as locally made pistols, live cartridges, knives, pump action guns and laptops which were used by hoodlums to perpetuate crime activities in the state.

Also recovered is a paragon bus with Reg. No LAGOS AAA 235XV which was hitherto used by Armed robbers on the Lagos/Ibadan express way to rob unsuspecting passengers of their belongings.

The suspects who confessed to series of robbery cases along that axis are Alaba Kareem, John Ogbeni and Kingsley Ognonna.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police has assured that “no group of criminals would be allowed to hold any jugular part of the state, especially in these ember months as the state command is committed to rid the state of crime and criminality.”

“The command has launched massive manhaunt for all would be criminals across the state and this operation is yielding the desired results.” Iliyasu said further.
